The Krush Academy Under-11 Girls, coached by Greg Brick, captured the FYSA Region B Cup last weekend and will travel to Pensacola the weekend of March 31st & April 1st to play for the State President’s Cup. After receiving a bye for the Knock-out Round, the girls’ journey started with the Challenge round in Gainesville where they won their group with decisive victories over Inter United (4-1) and Central Brevard (6-2) along with a 1-1 tie with Jacksonville’s Westside Eagles, thus earning a spot in the region’s final four in Viera. A victory over Creeks Clash (3-0) in the semi-final set up a showdown with cross town rival FC America Kumba for the title. The girls showed amazing resiliency in the final by rallying from a 2-0 at halftime deficit, they fought back to equal the score at 2-2 and send the game to penalty kicks. Each of the Krush kickers calmly and methodically found the back of the net, and the Krush goalkeeper was able to tip a Kumba shot over the bar to secure the victory and earn the team a spot in the state’s final four.
Congratulations & Good Luck at States!!!
